Style of Pa Kua Chang: Jiang Style Combative Pa Kua Chang (Jiang Shi Zhandou Ba Gua Zhang)

Jiang Hao-Quan began studying martial arts in 1920 at the age of 4, then at the age of 15, he tested and was accepted for admission into the Nanjng Central Martial Arts Academy's youth level as a full time student in the summer of 1932. He completed the four year course of study, and graduated with honors in 1936. While attending the academy, Jiang learned from three Pa Kua Chang teachers. All three of his teachers, Huang Bo-Nien, Jiang Rong-Qiao, and Yin Yu-Zhang were third generation practitioners in the lineage of Tung Hai-Ch'uan. Jiang Hao-Quan first learned "old" style Pa Kua Chang (known as Lao Pa Chang or old eight palms) from Jiang Rong-Qiao, then was selected to learn Ch'uan Shi Pa Kua Chang (Complete System Eight Diagram Palm). Ch'uan Shi Pa Kua Chang is an extraordinary all-combative-skill Pa Kua Chang that was created at the academy by four of the most respected martial artists in China (Jiang Rong-Qiao, Huang Bo-Nien, Ma Hsin-Yun, and Wang Yun-P'eng). It was created using Lao Pa Chang as the basis, with elements of Hsing-I Ch'uan, Pao T'ing Shuai Chiao (Fast-throw Chinese Wrestling), Chin Na (Grabbing and Controling) and T'ui Fa (Leg Methods). Jiang also learned Lung Hsing Pa Kua Chang (Dragon Form Eight Diagram Palm) and Hsing-I Ch'uan from Huang Bo-Nien, and studied Pa Kua Chang San Shou (free fighting) techniques with Yin Yu-Zhang. Jiang Hao-Quan developed his "Jiang Style Combative Pa Kua Chang" using Ch'uan Shi Pa Kua Chang as the basis, then adding enhancements from his fighting experiences and over 84 years of martial arts study, practice, training and knowledge.

Style of Pa Kua Chang: Cheng

John Bracy, founder of the Hsing Chen School, has over 30 years of martial arts experience. He has studied in the United States, Taiwan and Mainland China from many highly respected masters of Chinese boxing and attained advanced rankings and honors in several styles of traditional kung fu. In Pa Kua Chang, this includes 5th generation formal lineaged discipleship under Master Liu Xing-Han of Beijing.
