There are many people who believe and agree that the average human life span should actually extend into the hundreds of years instead of tens of years. That if we live right, eat healthy, exercise and take care of our bodies, and practice certain special exercises, we should naturally, normally and easily live beyond one hundred years and much more. This belief has been in the minds of many people around the world and through out history. Among the many thoughts and ideas on how to increase or extend the human life span, many practices (including both Eastern and Western approaches to medicine), exercises, therapies, herbal and non-herbal elixirs, tonics and medications, foods and food combinations, food supplements, vitamins, minerals and drugs have been tried, applied and ingested with varying degrees of relative success and/or failure. We humans are now living much longer than we were one and two hundred years and more ago and the evidence is in the growing population over the age of 65 who are still strong mobile and self sufficient in most developed countries and civilizations around the world. Among the many scientific, medical, philosophical and religious studies, theories, practices and beliefs regarding the quest for immortality, life longevity or eternal life, over the centuries, much focus on this subject has been given by Eastern medicine, philosophies and religions. In particular, the Chinese who study, practice and live in line with the philosophy and religion of Taoism, seek to achieve material immortality through various practices which fall into six categories:
Respiratory techniques (breathing techniques such as chi kung)
Heliotheraputic techniques (sun therapy techniques)
Gymnastic techniques (physical exercise techniques including internal martial arts)
Sexual techniques (special sexual techniques)
Alchemical and Pharmaceutical techniques (use and/or preparation of particular or special metals, minerals and drugs)
Dietary techniques (eating specific foods or foods in specific combinations)
Any one or all of these things are done in an effort to revitalize, strengthen and increase the life force of the body, what the Chinese call "Chi" (pronounced "chee"). Chinese medicine is based on the manipulation and treatment of chi flow through the body's 12 main and 8 extra meridians. We have come to learn over the centuries, that our bodies have an electrical system. The electrical system is our life force or chi. So you might begin to see why Eastern medicine focuses so much on chi flow and the meridians of the body. If the chi flow is strong and unobstructed, the body is strong and healthy inside, and if the body is strong and healthy inside, it is going to be strong and healthy outside and free of disease inside and outside. A body that is free of disease will not wither and die.
Another thing that has been learned over the years and much attention has been paid to, is the fact that certain metals and magnetics have, can and are being used therapeutically on the body to relieve pain, enhance and improve our health. People are wearing copper, silver, brass and magnets for the purposes just mentioned. These metals have an affect on the electrical system of our body, but magnets have the strongest affect of any of the metals mentioned, and are claimed and believed to diminish or reverse the effects of aging. Let me direct you to a web site that has more thorough and specific information regarding magnetics and the resulting beneficial and life extending effect on the body.
